The 5th General Assembly was successfully completed in the Holy Monastery of St George in Hadjidimovo, Bulgaria, under the auspices and with the kind hospitality of His Eminence Metropolitan of Nevrokop Nathanail. There were more than 50 participants from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Serbia. A representative of the Orthodox young people of Constantinople was also present, delivered a message and transmitted the blessing and greetings of His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos. The theme of the Assembly was "The spiritual dimensions of the moral and financial crisis".
The Assembly began on August 18, Thursday afternoon, with an input of Metropolitan Nathanail. A message was delivered on behalf of the Youth Foundation of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
On Friday, August 19, the report of the administration was presented by the General Secretary Yannis Zervos and new members were admitted in the Association. Discussion followed concerning the perspective and future activities of the B.O.Y.A.
On Saturday, August 20, the nominations for the new Board, Finance Control Committee and Regional Secretaries were presented. An input of His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Kifissia followed, based on the theme of the Assembly. His Eminence was not present as planned, due to extraordinary obligations in the last moment. After the input, an excursion took place in Gotse Delcev, the Holy Monastery of Rozhen where the participants attended Vespers in all the balkan languages, and the city of Melnik.
On Sunday, August 21, after the Holy Liturgy presided by His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanail and held in all balkan languages, the Assembly elected the new Board, and Finance Control Committee members and regional secretaries.
